At Famara, the cliffs tower over kilometers of sand; at low tide, they are reflected in the thin sheet of water left by the receding surf. This is one reason to visit even without a surfboard. Surfing, wind sports, and walking coexist along the shore, with the village of Caleta de Famara serving as a convenient base. Currents can be strong; simply choosing a stretch of water that looks calm on the surface is not enough for safe swimming.
