At Cofete, the Jandía mountains sweep down behind a vast stretch of sand facing the open Atlantic, unprotected by any bay. The winding dirt road to get there is part of the experience itself, so careful planning is required. People come here primarily to walk, admire the scenery, and experience the sheer scale of the west coast. Waves and currents are defining features of the area, so do not plan your visit expecting to go for a swim.
