Best beaches in Fuerteventura: choosing between north and south
Corralejo, El Cotillo, Sotavento and Cofete: distinguish sightseeing beaches from places to assess for swimming.

Corralejo and El Cotillo: a town name is not enough
In the north, distinguish Grandes Playas from central Corralejo's beaches. El Cotillo also includes different settings: La Concha and Los Lagos should not be confused with neighbouring ocean-facing beaches. Find the exact beach, check the route and compare tides; a photograph of the town may show a different section.
Sotavento: choose the sector
Sotavento refers to several beaches rather than one point. AURA distinguishes Playa La Barca and Risco del Paso. For a walk, choose a suitable access; for entering the water, assess depth, tide, wind and sporting sectors. A lagoon in a photograph does not guarantee the same conditions during your visit.
Cofete: visiting is not the same as swimming
For dramatic scenery, include Cofete without planning to swim there. A spectacular beach may have demanding ocean conditions. Plan access and your return, check local instructions and choose your swimming location separately: a beauty shortlist is not a safety assessment.
