Sheltered beaches in Fuerteventura: what to compare
Caleta de Fuste, El Cotillo or Costa Calma? A beach name or shape is not enough: check wind, waves and tide.

Compare locations rather than looking for a wind-free beach
The useful question is not which beach is always wind-free, but which offers more manageable conditions during your visit. Compare Caleta de Fuste, Corralejo Viejo and Costa Calma at the same hours. Direction and gusts may change the outcome; the name Costa Calma is not a forecast.
El Cotillo: lagoons and ocean beaches are not interchangeable
At La Concha and Los Lagos, check tide and waves before assessing wind on your chosen section. Do not extend that assessment to Piedra Playa or other western beaches. Little wind on the sand can coexist with Atlantic swell: switching coast for wind shelter alone is not enough to choose a swimming spot.
Choosing in the morning for the whole day
Compare midday and return-time conditions, not just the current value. Check whether gusts increase or waves change in the afternoon. Keep a nearby alternative and consider how easy it is to move: with children or equipment, access and distance matter as much as a small score difference.
