Sheltered beaches in Gran Canaria: bays and coastlines
Amadores, Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán are candidates to compare on windy days, without assuming the sea is always calm.

Start with southwestern bays
With a northeasterly flow, start by comparing southwestern bays. Amadores, Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán are separate locations, not one forecast for the entire coast. Pay attention to gusts: a moderate average can hide uncomfortable intervals on the sand or when using a parasol.
Las Canteras: compare sections before a long transfer
If you are in Las Palmas, first assess your chosen section of Las Canteras. One well-known beach name does not imply identical exposure along its length. Weigh the benefit of heading south against travel time, access and conditions on arrival, rather than relying only on the morning weather.
Good sporting wind is not the same as a good swimming day
A coastline valued for windsurfing or kiting may be uncomfortable for resting on the sand. Use AURA's assessment for your intended activity: sporting and relaxation rankings answer different needs. Check waves and beach flags even when you find a location with little wind.
