Best beaches in Lanzarote: Papagayo, Famara and the bays

Papagayo for scenery, Famara for the open ocean, and Flamingo or El Jablillo to compare for a day in a bay.

Papagayo: choose the cove and access

Papagayo's coves are a scenic reference in southern Lanzarote. Choose the exact beach and check access: routes and facilities are not interchangeable. Compare El Papagayo with nearby alternatives and distinguish a sightseeing visit from conditions suitable for swimming.

Famara: read the ocean

Famara offers an Atlantic-facing setting unlike the smaller bays. A good day for watching waves may not be a good swimming day. For surfing, compare the sport assessment with your ability; for a walk, consider wind on the sand and access. Wave height alone is not enough to choose.

Flamingo and El Jablillo: compare two areas

Flamingo is in Playa Blanca and El Jablillo in Costa Teguise. Your accommodation and travel time therefore matter too. With children, check access, available facilities and conditions in the water; a sheltered-looking bay still requires supervision and respect for beach flags.
